Mastering
The last listening pass before your mix reaches listeners: controlled loudness, album sequencing and exports matched to how you plan to release.

Mastering is not a miracle fix for a weak mix, but the stage where we review your song on reference monitors, apply small corrections and prepare files for upload, pressing or broadcast. At Nazeriniedgevi in Amsterdam we use a dedicated listening workflow, separate from tracking and mixing rooms, so we can judge balance, stereo image and dynamics with fresh ears.
You can book mastering after an in-house mix, after vocal sessions here, or with stems mixed elsewhere. We agree upfront on target platform, loudness goals and whether several songs should flow as an EP or album. Questions on rights and file naming are covered in our mastering rights guide.
Process
Brief
Send your mix (and references if you have them) plus the goal: streaming, vinyl, video or radio. We confirm format, deadline and fee in writing within 1 business day.
Analyse
We measure peaks, loudness and spectrum, listen on midfield monitors and compare briefly to your references without copying their sound.
Polish
EQ, dynamics and stereo tweaks, then limiting or clip control suited to the medium. Albums get a coherent sequence across tracks.
Delivery
You receive masters in agreed formats via secure link. Up to 2 revision rounds are included; further work is billed at mixing hourly rates if needed.
Who this service is for
Mastering fits when your mix is creatively settled and you mainly need loudness, finish and format compatibility. Solo artists releasing a single, labels sequencing a four-track EP, and producers aiming instrumentals at streaming all use this stage. Broadcast and video jobs also arrive when a final file must hit a specific loudness profile without reopening the mix.
If arrangement or level questions remain, book a mix session first or send rough stems for a quick opinion. We will say plainly when mastering would add little, for example on a demo still in flux. Spoken-word work such as podcast recording follows different workflows; we treat music mastering separately from speech finishing.
What to deliver
Supply your mix as an uncompressed file: WAV or AIFF, preferably 24-bit 48 kHz, with comfortable headroom on the mix bus. Include exact tempo and title, and note any fades or silence at the start or end. For albums, send track order and desired gaps or crossfades between songs.
Reference tracks are welcome as listening anchors, not mandatory. Avoid sending only an mp3 unless we agree that upfront for a quick check. Export guidance lives in mix delivery formats explained. If you are unsure about stems versus stereo mix, contact us before paying.
Room and workflow
Mastering runs in the control room on midfield monitors, away from the 38 m² live room. Daan Vermeer and Mira Jacobs alternate mastering depending on the calendar; you get one point of contact per project. We log target loudness, limiter choices and any per-track exceptions so the next single can sit in the same line.
We do not rely on one-size-fits-all automatic chains. We do use meters (integrated loudness, true peak) so platforms do not reject or normalize your release in a way that reshapes the mix. Vinyl cuts are discussed separately: sometimes a dedicated lacquer prep follows the digital master.
Streaming, vinyl and broadcast
For streaming we balance impact and dynamics, keeping true peak safely below clipping. Platforms normalize on their side; we deliver a master that survives that without surprise level jumps in a playlist. For vinyl we talk about side length, bass mono compatibility and how tight limiting may be.
Broadcast and corporate video often specify an LUFS target. Send the profile (for example -23 LUFS for many European broadcast chains) or your client brief. The table below is indicative; we align to your distribution channel.
| Medium | Focus | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Streaming | Controlled loudness, true peak headroom | Platform normalizes; we prevent clipping |
| Vinyl | Bass management, side length | Extra check before pressing advised |
| Broadcast / video | Fixed loudness profile | Send client specification |
Revisions and feedback
Each mastering project at Nazeriniedgevi includes up to 2 revision rounds based on reasoned feedback. One round means one set of updated masters or a clear note when a request would unintentionally alter the mix. Bundle comments in one email with timestamps or track names; phone calls are fine via 020 737 0284.
Extra rounds or stem rework sit outside the fixed price and are billed hourly or per song under our terms and conditions. We schedule revisions on weekdays where possible within Mon–Fri 10–20, Sat 11–18, depending on queue length.

Delivery formats and archive
By default we supply 16-bit/44.1 kHz WAV for broad compatibility, plus 24-bit/48 kHz when you need it for video or high-res stores. HD variants on request. File names follow an agreed pattern (artist, title, ISRC if available) so aggregators do not scramble order.
We keep project files and masters for 6 months on secured storage, then delete unless you book an extension. Download within that window and keep your own backup. Intellectual property and usage are explained in mastering rights and delivery and our privacy policy.
What is not included
Mastering does not remix individual stems, tune vocals, edit beats or produce music from scratch. We do not distribute to Spotify, Apple Music or vinyl plants; you or your aggregator uploads the files we deliver. Multi-host podcast editing belongs under podcast recording, not music mastering.
If mastering reveals a technically troubled mix (clipping, severe phase issues), we pause and discuss: a short mix correction is sometimes cheaper than forcing the issue in mastering. That saves double spend later.
Visits and access
Most mastering is offline; you do not need to attend unless you want an attended session. To listen in person, book within Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00, Saturday 11:00–18:00, closed Sunday.. Address: Van Ostadestraat 184, 1072 AK Amsterdam (De Pijp). From De Pijp metro (North/South line) it is about a seven-minute walk via Ferdinand Bolstraat. Tram 12 stops at Ceintuurbaan, five minutes on foot to Van Ostadestraat. On-street parking is limited; use P+R at Zuid or Arena if you drive.
Lars de Vries coordinates scheduling; engineers handle technical mastering questions. See FAQ or all services if you combine mastering with tracking or mixing in the same week.
